Anansa Sims is my Celebrity Beauty Beat of the Week. She is beautiful, strong and inspiring, especially to those who don’t satisfy “typical” beauty standards. Anansa exceeds them all. She graciously accepted my offer and gave LA’s Beauty Beat a minute to catch up as she tells us about her “Full and Fabulous Beat.”
Model Anansa Sims is currently featured in the November issue of Glamour Magazine in a nude spread with some of the leading, plus-size models in the industry today. If you haven’t heard about the issue, it’s certainly a must-see, as it has polarized both women and men about health and body image.
Sims, who has been the face and body for the Intimates line Curvation in a national advertising campaign, is also the daughter of iconic supermodel Beverly Johnson.
For Sims, the concern that plus-sized beauties lead unhealthy lives and contribute to obesity in our society is the exact type of mentality she hopes to change. She believes it’s this thought process that leads young women to eating disorders and unnecessary fixations with unattainable body types. To be “plus-size” in the modeling industry is everything over size 6. The average American woman wears a size 14.
Anansa’s favorite beauty products are:
Palmer’s Coco Butter
Yon-ka Cleansing facial
Carmex
Studio Tech Foundation – MAC
Woodwinked Eyeshadow-MAC
Sunbasque Sheertone Powder Blush-MAC
Buy all her favorites at The Beauty Beat Store
Thanks Anansa for sharing your beat with us.
