Have you ever put on eyeshadow and wondered what happened to it at the end of the day? Did your eyelid suck it up or something? Well I’m willing to bet that if you use the Urban Decay Primer before you Beat your eyes with that fantastic color, it will last longer than you. I was browsing in Sephora one day and stumbled upon this “genie in a bottle” and decided to give it a shot.
This is how it’s described at the Urban Decay website: This miracle eyeshadow primer is unmatched by any other in the beauty industry! The genie in this bottle fulfills three wishes: eyeshadow that lasts, more vibrant and lasting color, and absolutely NO creasing. Apply Primer Potion to lids before shadow application. It dries down almost instantly (and invisibly), creating smooth lids that are super powered eyeshadow magnets.
I tried it and I love it. You only need a little bit. It goes on smooth and you can wear it by itself. The primer gives a little sparkle to your eyelids. It only takes a second to dry and then add your shadow. Below is a pic with my new primer and eyeshadow (Can’t wait to tell you about that in the next post).
There are lots of primers out there but I really like what Urban Decay has created. However, as always, I’m open to suggestions.
If you have a favorite primer, let me know about it. Comment below.
Ready…Set…Beat!!!!
I typically don’t use a primer. I am loyal to most Bobbi Brown products including their Long-Wear Cream Shadow. This stuff stays on until you want it to come off. Its a great alternative for those who (are lazy like me) want to skip the step of a primer a go straight to applying the shadow. They have great colors. I think it is $20 each. Bobbi Brown products are sold at Macy’s, Nordstrom and bobbibrowncosmetics.com.
It’s one of the best primers out there IMO.
The only downfall for me was the packaging, and while I’m curious about the new wand.. I imagine I’d still have to perform open bottle surgery to make sure I get it all.
Currently I’m using Too Faced Shadow Insurance (a full size sample that came with an eyeshadow palette). It works much the same, but the texture is different.
When I still had the Urban Decay, I tended to reach for it more.. although I can’t really say why.
Hey, I found your site from BlogsHerColor. Great post. I have this primer and I too love it. I’ve been using it about a year at the recommendation of a professional makeup artist! hands down the best I’ve tried
Which color should I choose if I typically wear brown/bronzey, purple and silvery colors?
I like the Urban Decay Sin
it’s a little bronzy but neutral and won’t change the pigment of your eyeshadow.

Great tip! Will save me from reapplying halfway through the day.
