Adrin’s Beat- Hair Resolutions
Last week JoElle gave us her Skin Resolutions. This week Adrin has given us the holy grail in Hair Resolutions. It’s not too late to add a couple more resolutions to the list. Especially if you have already broken a few.
So take a look, listen and repeat these great hair resolutions and start 2010 with healthy, beautiful hair.
1. I will be good to my hair.
First and foremost, in order to have any hair, you have to be good to it. Good hair starts with good habits. All hair is good until it’s made bad.
2. I will compliment my hair: Believe in your hair.
Tell yourself it’s beautiful, healthy, and strong. You compliment other people’s hair, but how often do you compliment your own hair. Find ways to be good to your hair and feel good about it. This little tip will go a long way because you will always have a positive outlook about your hair.
3. I will use less heat
Heat is good for styling, however too much heat can be overbearing and damaging. Invest into heat styling tools with temperature control options. Using a curling or flat iron on medium settings is always best. Try to heat style only once a week. Using heat isn’t bad; it’s just excessive heat that causes the problems.
4. I will deep condition my hair at least once every two months.
By using a deep conditioner or hot oil treatment periodically you will put vital nutrients back into your hair, add gloss and flexibility, and enable the hair to grow thicker and longer.
5. I will get rid of old hair products.
Old hair products lose shelf life and aren’t as potent as fresh products. If you haven’t used it in a year or so, get rid of it!
6. I will drink more water.
Water keeps your hair silky, shiny, soft and supple. Drinking when you aren’t thirsty is better because, once you are thirsty you have lost water that needs to be replenished.
7. I will have a healthy diet.
Beautiful healthy hair is the result of a healthy diet. A diet rich in proteins, vitamins and minerals is essential to healthy hair. While protein makes the hair stronger, vitamins and minerals prevent hair loss and improve the hair’s natural color.
8. I will exercise.
(78% of black women are overweight) and one third of them exercise less because of hair concerns. What’s more important, your health or your hair? You can be fit and fabulous with the right care and preparation to your hair, before, during and after your workout.
9. I will invest in good hair products.
You hair is only as good as the products you use. It’s always a plus to buy hair products before you need them and in large bulk to save money. Never buy a new hair product because it’s on sale. Read product labels and get familiar with the ingredients. Know what’s in your hair.
10. I will schedule regular hair appointments.
Keeping your hair in top notch condition requires seeing a professional at least once in a while. Schedule your next appointment before you leave the salon. While this is benefiting to both you and your hairstylist, this also keeps you on track with keeping your hair healthy.
BONUS RESOLUTION. I will keep a hair journal/scrapbook.
Have a hair goal and attain it, even if it’s just to keep it healthy. Record your hair goals and its progression. If there is a new hairstyle you want to try, place a picture of it in your journal. Take pictures of you with the new look and compare your results. This is really good to keep. Imagine in 5 years the changes and progress you will make if you keep a journal each year. And you can give it to your daughter so she will know how to keep her hair in top condition.
