Last week I started my hair beat with a discussion of shampoos and conditioners. This week we move to deep and leave-in conditioners…two very important steps for natural haircare.
Deep Conditioners
Like I mentioned in the last post, I wash and co-wash my hair. When I shampoo my hair, I also like to do a deep condition. Deep conditioners add moisture and protection to my hair. I switch between the following:
Pantene Relaxed and Natural Hair Mask - I really like the Pantene Relaxed and Natural line in general, but really love this particular product. It is a great deep conditioner. It makes my hair less frizzy which helps when I am ready to twist.
Jessicurl Weekly Deep Conditioning Treatment
Jessicurl is also a great deep conditioner. It’s even better when you apply and sit under the dryer for about 20-30 mins. After that I rinse and my hair detangles pretty easily.
Leave-in Conditioners
Leave-in conditioners are very important for natural hair, especially mine. Because I color my hair I definitely need additional moisture.
I need a conditioner to keep my hair looking good well after I rinse and twist.
Here are some of my favorites:
Giovanni Direct Leave in Conditioner
I like that Giovanni is light-weight and doesn’t weigh my hair down, especially when I am going to add another product to twist with. It’s also organic and cruelty free.
Infusium 23 Leave-in Conditioner

I used this conditioner when I had a relaxer. It was great then and even better now. It’s light and watery which is a plus for color-treated or damaged hair. Sometimes I add it to my setting lotion when I twist my hair.
Let us know your favorite deep and leave-in conditioners.
So now we have shampooed, conditioned, deep conditioned and added a leave in. But we are not through yet.
Next week I’ll share what I use to twist and pluck. Ready…Set..BEAT!!!

Giovanni is my favorite leave-in too! I also like all of Biostrand’s products.
