A family emergency kept me from attending this fabulous event last weekend. However, a fantastic fellow beater attended in my absence and graciously decided to share the event’s beauty secrets with you. I hope you enjoy!!!

Johnson’s Baby Oil and Essence Magazine invited beauty editors, writers and bloggers to the St. Regis hotel in Washington, DC for a day of massages, manicures and mimosas during the first weekend of spring.
The GirlTalk Cause Party treated local social media mavens to one of Johnson’s latest products, a baby creamy oil with cocoa and shea butter, and supported The WEEN Network, that promotes the positive portrayal of women in society and entertainment.
While the doors to the beauty lounge were scheduled to open at 11 a.m., dozens of women stood in line early to get the first chance at the pampering, a consult with celebrity makeup artist Tia Danztler, and to test Johnson’s products.
Danzler pulled double duty at the event. After making one-on-one time with a long line of ladies interested in her opinion on cosmetics, she headlined a panel of experts that afternoon. During a break we caught up with Tia and chatted about about the trends in makeup for spring.
“It’s all about luminous skin for spring. Peach and purple are in and so is a bold lip. The colors are trending toward blue for the eye and hot/bright pink for the lip.”
Danzler, who is also a beauty blogger and a Johnson’s beauty consultant, said:
“Use Johnson’s baby oil gel after the shower for a nice glow and to seal in the skin’s moisture.”

“What’s your beauty secret?” That’s the question Mikki Taylor, Essence magazine’s beauty and cover director, asked the panel.
Cheryl Burgess, MD, a board certified dermatologist and professor, revealed that she smoothed Vitamin C on her skin in the morning for protection from the sun and environment. At night she uses Retinol, a vitamin-based product known to repair skin cells, to help even out her completion and lighten spots because “the skin loves it.”
JoElle Lyons, a master aesthetician and skin specialist, said her beauty regimen includes drinking water, eliminating regularly, and exfoliating. Lyons also gets peels regularly because it promotes faster cell renewal and helps skin products work better.
Celebrity makeup artist Derrick Rutledge recommends using a moisturizer with Vitamin C and a good concealer under the eye to cover the bags and “wake you up.”
The panel offered a range of beauty tips from selecting multitasking products like using a stick foundation as a concealer, and how-tos like picking products that are safe for the whole family. The connecting theme was beauty starts by determining your skin type, nurturing it with the right diet and environment, and selecting products with ingredients that are suitable for you.
Thanks LJ Forbes for sharing these great tips with us. Hope you had a blast. I can’t wait to review these great Johnson’s products.
Ready… Set… BEAT!!!
Sounds like it was a fun event! I LOVE the baby oil gel since it really gives the skin a nice glow. I think I’ll try the cream too. Sounds like it would work well without getting as greasy.
Beautiful event and beautiful information.

Sounds like an awesome event. Can’t wait to try the creamy oil with shea butter and cocoa, my favorite ingredients!
