I was in Chicago last week for a job interview. (Yes, I got the job) Yay ME!!!! But I also had the opportunity to meet some amazing, beautiful, and absolutely wonderful bloggers.
Here’s what happened:
I was chatting with a guy from Burrell Communications, a black owned advertising agency, about tips to improve my blog via email before coming to Chicago. He was extremely nice and helpful. When I knew I was coming to Chicago I just sent him a note and wanted to know if we could meet for lunch and maybe I could get a peek inside the award-winning agency. He ag
reed and when I got there he asked if I wanted to attend a reception for some of their bloggers who contribute to Black Atlas.com, a site powered by American Airlines. Of course I said yes!!!! Free food, drinks and new folks. Why not?
So I dropped by and was pleasantly surprised to be amongst some of my favorite bloggers in the business. I mean blog ICONS like: Julia Coney, All About the Pretty; GabiFresh, Young, Fat and Fabulous; Quel, HomeGirl Quel in Austin , Johnica Reed, Travel blogger extraordaire, Mocha Momma, Awesomely Luvvie and more. They were all extremely nice, funny, lovable and extra cute. Everyone was beautiful. I was sooo charged and inspired being able to meet and chat with them. Of course we discussed Beats and hair. I learned that Quel is a blogger for Clinique and Julia loves Bobbi Brown like no other. When I grow up I want to be just like them.
The extra special treat was meeting Ms. Afrobella. She is the epitome of blogger chicness. She was extra sweet, entertaining and just fun to be around. I had to literally step back, take a look around and say “Look at little ole me, surrounded by blogger royalty.” I LOVED ALL OF IT.
From there I scored a great tour of Bronzeville the next day with the ladies. I was so excited. I learned alot about Chicago’s rich African American history and culture. From Chess Records (aka Cadillac Records) to Hyde Park, it was a great experience. I love Chicago and I love it even more because of the new friends I met. Thanks ladies for letting me crash your party, hope I get to do it again.
Thanks Quel, I was extremely happy to see you too when you walked in. The organization is moving to DC so I’ll still be here. I’m very happy about that. And yes I can’t wait to see you in October in MIA.
that is so cool! I dig these ladies too. It’s always refreshing to read about the the true character of your favorites when someone meets them in person. Everyone looks so beautiful! thank you for sharing!!
