I have begun to experience little breakouts on my face as I’ve gotten older, especially around my cycle . From there they have been leaving dark spots/blemishes.
Is there any particular treatment or regimen IO should be doing to help fade the spots?
My suggestion is to use a 4% hydroquinone to permanently fade the spots. It is prescription strength and you can get it from a dermatologist or primary care physician. You can also order a great product online called meladerm that also helps to fade spots. You should only use fade creams for 90 days and then discontinue use for 90 days before using the fade cream again because it can cause sensitivity to the sun and create a reverse effect on the marks leaving them dark again. If you were to do a series of chemical peels in conjuction with the fade cream you would experience rapid results in not only the dark spots but it would also prevent new breakouts from occurring.
When using the fade cream, you should use it on your whole face day and night for the first two weeks and then on the whole face at night and spot treat on dark marks in the morning for the next two weeks. After that you can finish the product using only on the dark marks day and night. This will prevent the halo effect around the marks that most people of color experience when using fade creams. Lastly, you should wear sunscreen while using the fade cream to prevent irritation and more darkness.
