Tamika Felder is my Beauty Beat of the Week.

Tamika Felder is a model of courage for millions of women. After a diagnosis of
advanced cervical cancer in 2001 at the age of 25, she not only triumphed in her fight against
this deadly disease, she used her experience to help educate other women about ways to
prevent it. She is the founder and CEO of Tamika & Friends, Inc. —a
national non-profit organization dedicated to cervical cancer awareness through a network of
survivors and their friends.
Tamika is also a survivor spokesperson for the Lance Armstrong Foundation and has
served as Community Representative for the President’s Cancer Panel (September 2003).
Among her other involvements: being a Patient Advocate Member of the Gynecological
Oncology Group, serving on the District of Columbia Cancer Plan’s Gynecological CancerLips
