Below is a conversation between me and nephew:

Jaylen: Hi Auntie Wanda (slow and sad)

Me: Hi babe, how are you?

Jaylen: I’m ok

Me: What’s wrong?

Jaylen: Do I have to be an usher at the wedding?

Me: Yes, why?

Jaylen: Because I don’t want to wear a suit.

Me: Babe everyone is dressing up so you have to as well

Jaylen: Can I wear a red suit?

Me: A red suit? Why?

Jaylen: Because red is my favorite color

Me: No babe.  The colors are silver and purple.  You will wear a dark suit

Jaylen: Can my tie be red?

Me: No it’s purple

Jaylen: Can I wear red socks or shoes

Me: No babe

Jaylen: okkkkkkk. (REAL sad and slow)

 

I had mentally prepared my self to be annoyed with folks for my wedding.  Everyone says it’s inevitable, but not my 10-year nephew.  He may be a challenge for sure….. I think I may have found something he will be happy with.  He likes Converse all-stars so I went on converse.com and decided to design Jaylen a shoe for the wedding.  It was a lot of fun and easy to do.  You can pick everything from the interior color, threading, to the racing stripe on the back.  To top it off you can add  their name or initials on the shoe.  The shoe is a high top, black leather, purple interior and a gray stripe on the back.  I even gave him his hint of RED.   The initials are red.  I hope this will pacify him for a couple of hours.  Wish me luck
