” How will you wear your hair?” That has been the most asked question regarding my upcoming nuptials. I wish I could say the tone was always the same. The question phrasing varies:
“Are you going to wear your natural hair?”
“What are you going to do with your hair?”
“You are going to wear it straight right?”
“What is your hair going to look like?”
The questions started freakin me out. I envisioned my hair big and curly. As I started looking and bridal pictures I didn’t see that. Brides had classic updos or long, straight flowing tresses. I really wasn’t interested in wearing my hair differently than I normally do and look at this pictures for the rest of my life and ask myself, “Who’s that girl?”
I started researching natural hair brides and found some inspiration on Afrobella and Curly Nikki. What I realized was I should look like myself. Just my heightened, polished self
BEAT and all.
So Adrin, my stylist started trying different looks. We tried flexees, twists with rollers, bantu knots, etc… I think we have it narrowed down to some options I feel great about. What I decided for sure was a veil wasn’t for me. I felt claustrophobic and the veil would be 2 feet off my head. I think some simple netting and a flower is the most coverage I will get.
Below are the answers to the questions above:
Yes, I will wear my hair natural
I will do something beautiful with my hair.
My hair won’t be straight.
I hope it will be beautiful, just like the day…
Wish me luck, I promise to post the finished results.
Feel free to post your favorite bridal styles.
Ready…Set…BEAT!!!
Oooooh I’m totally envisioning you wearing it big, with a flower of sorts. I feel you on looking back at your pictures and seeing some unrecognizable chick.
sidenote: When I read the title of your post I thought, “No different than how I’ve got it now.” LOL, I thought you were posing a question to the audience and in my case “the bridal party!” Haaaa!

Do you and forget everyone else. It’s your day and it will be beautiful in every way.
